Republican Politicians

Michigan Educators, beware the politicians who masquerade as those who care about the children in our public schools, wolves in sheep's clothing.  In particular, there are two bills currently under consideration that were introduced by republican politicians.  HB 4241 introduced by Bill Rogers and HBs 4214, 4215, and 4246 introduced by Al Pscholka, all attempt to negate teacher tenure rights. HB 4241 is a bill to repeal the teacher tenure law.  HBs 4214, 4215, and 4246 are bills that would give Emergency Financial Managers (EFMs) the power to cancel, modify, terminate existing collective bargaining agreements.  This appears to be specifically directed at Detroit Public Schools and its bargaining unit.

Once again, history repeats itself.  When republicans are in office, they do everything they can to discredit unions and attempt to disembowel them.  Someone needs to stand up and speak out against this travesty because if it happens to one bargaining unit, it will have a domino effect with others and unions will cease to exist.  Write your legislators in Lansing and demand they vote against these bills and others like them.  Flood their fax lines and emails.  Get their attention to let them know that we are paying attention.   Stay in the loop regarding legislative bills by subscribing to "Michigan Votes" to stay abreast of daily legislative activities.  This concerns every responsible citizen who actually votes in every election.
